Associate Director for Information Technology (Requisition 2018-8548)
Reporting to the Museum Director, the Associate Director for Information and Technology (AD) is a key member of the Museum’s senior management team and sets the direction for a sustainable integrated technological program and information management strategy, which positions the Museum for future advancements in the museum and technology fields. The AD leads one of six major departments within the Museum and works with the Director and fellow ADs to create a technology environment that supports the Museum’s mission and Strategic Plan, overseeing innovative technological solutions to contemporary museum issues.
The AD leads a team of professional staff in support of the Museum’s mission and strategic objectives as it relates to public-facing digital initiatives; collections management; hardware and software systems; digital asset creation and management; information architecture and systems integration; application development; current technologies (e.g. linked open data and International Interoperability Framework); and all matters relating to the Museum’s online presence. The AD provides leadership and oversight for initiatives spanning all Museum departments including advising the Director on current and future technological trends and advancements in the museum field. The AD’s fiscal responsibilities include managing funds of approximately $1.5 million annually. S/he also represents the Museum as a leader, both on campus and across the museum community.
