Content Strategist and Editorial Lead, Getty Research Institute

The Getty Research Institute seeks a digitally savvy, experienced, and versatile content strategist, writer, and editor to participate in leading content creation and dissemination of content on our website and social media channels. The successful candidate is a standout idea-generator and problem solver, and an expert multi-media storyteller and communicator with experience managing and mentoring direct reports. Position may also be assigned discrete digital projects such as audio tours for our gallery exhibitions and multi-media online exhibitions, and will be a key participant in an ambitious, multi-year project to overhaul our web content to align with new branding guidelines for tone and voice, applying expertise in content design and content presentation.


This position will be responsible for surfacing issues and developing solutions to complex content strategy and workflow challenges, managing multiple and competing deadlines, and ensuring that projects are delivered on deadline. The ideal candidate is adept at creating and implementing highly innovative content strategies, creative briefs, and communication strategies for the web and social media, thrives in a highly collaborative environment, and excels at developing warm and collegial relationships with a wide range of staff, subject experts, and stakeholders.


The position will report to the Head of Web & New Media and is based at the Getty Research Institute (GRI) in Los Angeles. The GRI is an international center for the study of visual culture and houses the largest art library in the world, with vast special collections materials ranging from the 15th century to the present.
