The Digital Media department at The Metropolitan Museum of Art is seeking a talented Digital Media Analyst who will be responsible for establishing and overseeing an analytics program to monitor and assess departmental channels, platforms, and programs. These include metmuseum.org, email marketing, social media channels, mobile apps, audio guide, interactives, and educational multimedia, both online and in-gallery. The Digital Media Analyst will be counted upon to understand the “story” behind the numbers and prepare materials to share those stories with project teams and senior leadership. This employee will also analyze, conduct user research, and develop timely reports to understand the fluctuations in data and identify trends and opportunities to optimize the Museum’s digital platforms and programs. Responsibilities
- Report on quantitative and qualitative of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and other key metrics across all digital channels
- Design and build automated solutions for business intelligence and reporting dashboards
- Extract, analyze, manipulate, and synthesize data to measure and report on user behavior
- Collaborate with product managers to integrate analytics into all platforms and channels
- Perform complex ad hoc queries and analyses that combine multiple tools and data sources and types, including analysis for other stakeholders/projects as needed
- Identify and analyze trends, patterns, and shifts in user behavior, both independently and in collaboration with product managers and data analytics resources
- Conduct user research for development of new platforms or optimization of existing channels
- Produce weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and analysis for product managers and senior staff, using clear and creative data presentation skills
- Develop and deliver analysis and insights with actionable recommendations that drive strategic and tactical decisions related to platform optimization and overall strategy
- Study the shift to mobile technologies and their effect on both web design and customer behavior
- Develop best practices for configuring analytics technology, for analyzing user behavior on multiple platforms, and for collecting and interpreting data from multiple sources
- Recommend and lead new analytics/metrics projects as needed
- Serve as a resource for the department in regards to analytics implementation and analysis
- Advise/provide training to internal stakeholders in the use of analytics tools, as needed
- Establish department-wide data analytics program
- Identify performance indicators for SEO
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical field (e.g., Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Sociology, Psychology, Communication) requiring the ability to construct structured tests and analyze results
- 2+ years experience in analytical role, consulting or at an advertising agency
Extensive experience with web analytics tools, both on mobile (app and web) and desktop platforms (Google Analytics preferred) - Familiarity with analytic suites of various major social media platforms required (Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc.)
- Comfortable manipulating large data sets and presenting complex information in an easy to understand manner
- An Excel aficionado; proficient in the creation of PowerPoint presentations
- Knowledge of Tableau or other enterprise business intelligence tool preferred
- Data visualization skills highly desirable
- Strong intellectual curiosity and analytical skills, with a knack for recognizing correlations, data trends and statistical irregularities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in presenting findings and strategic insights to a wide range of internal stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Experience and comfort with user research/user testing
