Digital Product Manager

The Corporation of the Fine Arts Museums is seeking a Digital Product Manager. Reporting to the Director of Digital Strategy, the Digital Product Manager will oversee the evolutions of FAMSF digital product portfolio which currently includes famsf.org—the official website of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco— deyoung.famsf.org, legionofhonor.famsf.org, and the collections website art.famsf.org.

The ideal candidate has a user-centric approach to product development, very strong analytical skills and a track record of delivering successful content-rich websites, preferably for cultural institutions or digital media outlets. Working closely with external agencies, designers, web-developers and internal stakeholders, the Product Manager owns the website’s roadmap and its execution to ensure the development of a world-class product that meets KPIs and the Museums’ mission.

A self-starter, creative and a data driven manager, this role keeps abreast of the newest technology trends and seize all opportunities to constantly improve and enrich the user experience.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Define and own roadmap of the websites’ redesign, prioritizing projects to meet KPIs and ensure a successful and timely website launch
  2. Manage the entire product lifecycle from the discovery to the launch and maintenance phases
  3. Provides end-to-end technical project management from project scoping, budget preparation and maintenance, project planning, progress tracking, timeline development, and support documentation
  4. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
  5. Regularly reports on project progress, creates and maintains status briefs
  6. Set  quality standards
  7. Identify strategic partners and vendors
  8. Acts are primary contact with external agencies/partners and internal stakeholders and coordinates internal resources and third parties/vendors/partners for timely execution
  9. Support decision making providing regular data-driven reports on project advancements
  10. Drive execution, managing tasks for the developers, writing detailed user stories and supporting A/B testing
  11. Collaborate cross-departmentally to foster cohesion around the overall product strategy
  12. Conduct research on different strategic initiatives and field trends as well as digital best practices
  13. Define content production and publication workflows, establish practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
  14. Responsible for training internal staff on content management systems

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field.

Work Experience: Minimum of three years of experience developing and managing websites.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Track record of successfully launching new websites and digital products in the culture, education or media sectors
  • Extensive understanding of website architectures, infrastructure and content management systems
  • Experience in UX research, SEO/SEM, analytics, and agile project management methodologies
  • Knowledge of user interface design best practices
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills, proactively addresses issues as they arise
  • Comfortable diagnosing and identifying solutions for technical problems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Team player with proven ability to work collaboratively and build consensus in a highly demanding and fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize
  • Experience with effectively using project management software such as JIRA and Asana
  • Diplomatic, result-driven, dedicated and able to maintain sense of humor while working under pressure
  • Experience in web design and development agencies highly appreciated
