DIGITAL PROJECT MANAGER (CONTRACT POSITION)
COOPER HEWITT, SMITHSONIAN DESIGN MUSEUM
Duration of the contract is 5 months.
The Digital Project Manager will assist Digital & Emerging Media (DEM) by providing digital project management support by executing a variety of methodologies like, Agile and Scrum and participate in the maintenance of select digital products. Works closely with the Lead Content Strategist and the members of the DEM team.
Reports to the Lead Content Strategist/Director of Cross-Platform Content.
- Executes digital project management such as Agile and Scrum to establish a digital project, run the sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives with the DEM team and any internal stakeholders.
- Identifies and monitors project risks, roadblocks, dependencies, and communicating those statuses between members of DEM, internal museum stakeholders and 3rd-party vendors who are executing and developing digital products.
- Creates and monitors project plans using a variety of digital project management tools, such as JIRA, Microsoft Projects, Trello, and GitHub Issues.
- Leads and executes small digital projects related to the digital extraction of collections data from TMS and Cooper Hewitt’s databases and communicates project status between DEM, curatorial and registrar departments so that data can be made available to the public on our web platforms using HTML, CSS, PHP, and our API
- Produces and manages project documentation for the DEM, Tessitura customer relationship management team, and Cross-Platform Content.
- Records and documents meeting minutes for distribution.
- Assists with new and modified contracts and purchase orders.
- Schedules meetings with DEM, cross-departmental stakeholders, and 3rd parties.
Two years of full time experience that demonstrates the following knowledge/skills/abilities:
- Knowledge of implementing a variety of digital project management methodologies such as Agile and Scrum, establishing digital project plans, running sprint planning, daily scrums, sprint reviews and retrospectives.
- Knowledge of identifying and monitoring project risks, roadblocks, dependencies, and communicating those statuses between internal museum stakeholders and 3rd party vendors.
- Knowledge of using a variety of digital project management software tools, such as JIRA, Microsoft Projects, Trello and GitHub Issues.
- Knowledge of museum data management such as “The Museum System” (TMS) or equivalent collection management system, how the curatorial department and registrar use that data, and how that data is rendered to the public with technologies such as databases, HTML, CSS, PHP and other modern web frameworks, and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces).
- Knowledge of technical writing for the documentation of a digital projects
- Basic understanding of budgets and related software and/or hardware to assist in predicating the potential cost to projects or assist in the estimation of feasible budgets/provide recommendations and or proposals.
- Understanding of web technology to understand how websites and network works, such as HTML, CSS, and other modern website languages. Knowing what Application Programming Interface (API) and databases are.
- Knowledge of overall system software, hardware, and networking to help DEM team recognize interrelationships sufficient to report, respond to, and resolve customer requests.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS 7, 8.1, Windows 10, and Microsoft Office products, and other common personal computer software and applications. Keeps updated on Microsoft technology.

HOURLY RATE: $37.00/hour
HOURS: 30 hours per week (10am to 5pm)
