A cornerstone of the West Kowloon Cultural District, M+ is Hong Kong’s new museum for visual culture, encompassing twentieth and twenty-first century art, design and architecture, and moving image from Hong Kong, China, Asia, and beyond.

Since 2012, M+ has been presenting diverse public programmes and exhibitions, and is amassing a permanent collection, in the run-up to the scheduled 2019 public opening of the museum building designed by Herzog & de Meuron with TFP Farrells and Ove Arup & Partners HK.

The M+ Pavilion, the first permanent building to be completed in WKCD, will serve as the venue for the exhibitions organised by M+ in the run up to the completion of the main M+ building in 2019.


You will be responsible for:

  1. editing and fact-checking a diverse range of digital content, including essays, online exhibition materials and video captions, for the museum’s virtual curatorial platform and collections website;
  2. writing and editing engaging web posts about subjects related to the museum, including behind-the-scenes curatorial activities and the M+ collection;
  3. managing the editorial calendar for M+’s digital properties: tracking the creation, editing, translation, and publishing of all content;
  4. uploading, publishing and managing text and multimedia material online using M+’s content-management system;
  5. engaging web users via social networking platforms such as Instagram, Twitter and Facebook;
  6. liaising with the museum’s rights and reproduction and curatorial teams to select and clear rights for images and other content appearing online;
  7. liaising with third-party contributors to communicate deliverables, deadlines, and revisions, and working with freelancers to edit and translate text appearing online;
  8. drafting documents for the procurement of third-party editors, translators, and other service providers; and
  9. contributing to big-picture thinking about the development of M+ as a museum for visual culture, based in Hong Kong with a global vision.

You should:

  1. possess a recognised university degree or equivalent;
  2. have at least 3-5 years of experience in digital media / communications, digital journalism or digital content marketing;
  3. have superb English-language writing, editing, and communication skills;
  4. be able to provide a portfolio of published clips;
  5. be highly organised, with a background in creating, editing, managing and publishing digital content;
  6. be experienced in publishing web content on CMS platforms;
  7. be conversant with social media and social-media best practices;
  8. be familiar with best practices for optimising text, images, videos, and other content for SEO;
  9. have an interest in visual-culture topics such as art, architecture, design or moving image; and
  10. ideally have knowledge of Cantonese or Putonghua.
