Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager manages the Hammer Museum’s day-to-day accounting functions and month-end closing process, including all required journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Incumbent reports to the Director, Finance and HR and assists in the annual preparation and regular oversight of the Museum’s $25 million budget; provides guidance and oversight for accurate recording of the Museum’s financial transactions; manages a variety of funds including general funds, contracts and grants, gifts and endowments, and sales and service funds; provides financial reporting and tracking of payroll, the Hammer Store, and café operations; provides fiscal guidance to all Museum departments; develops, oversees, and enforces general and Museum-specific finance and accounting policies and procedures; and provides direction, supervision, training and guidance to Finance staff. This position is responsible for overseeing the department’s accounts payable activities. Additionally, the incumbent supports the Director, Finance and HR on year-end audit and 990 & 990-T tax return preparation, as well as other special projects.
