ARP, in support of the National Museum of Health and Medicine, seeks a dynamic, creative, initiative-taking Collections Database Manager.
Working with the NMHM Collections and Information Technology staffs, the Collections Database Manager is a key member of the team responsible for providing technical advice and maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing the NMHM’s collections database (including the primary EMu system.) The Collections Database Manager maintains, implements, and updates policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the EMu system while actively ensuring adherence to data standards across the EMu environment, as well as ensuring compliance with DoD, Army and NMHM policies, regulations and guidance. The Collections Database Manager manages and undertakes the technical and procedural responsibilities to ensure the utilization of EMu’s functionality to advance collections information management and collections-related tasks. Coordinating with the relevant NMHM staff, the Collections Database Manager is the sole staff person responsible for the day-to-day management of the database including, but not limited to, training and assisting users, developing and writing customized reports and providing ongoing database support.
Qualified candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar field, and a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience as a Database Administrator with Security+ certification and at least one (1) year of Linux 5.0 or above operating system experience. Emu database experience is preferred, but not required. (Emu certification will be required within 6 months of hire.)
