The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County seek an experienced digital production
manager to collaborate on and leverage digital engagement across multiple platforms, online
and onsite, working closely with multiple departments to strengthen the museum's online
presence and impact in an increasingly competitive digital era.
The Natural History Museums of Los Angeles County—including NHM at Exposition Park, La
Brea Tar Pits and museum in mid-Wilshire, and the William S. Hart Museum in Newhall—is
committed to innovative digital engagement in realizing our mission of inspiring the wonder,
discovery and responsibility for the natural and cultural worlds. The Manager of Digital
Production is responsible for managing the implementation of a variety of digital initiatives, in
line with the institution’s overarching digital strategy, with the goal of creating accessible,
engaging, and relevant experiences for all audiences to augment the onsite presence.
Primary responsibilities include: creating and owning project plans and timelines for digital
engagement; evaluating capabilities, workflow, systems, and communications among content
creators, creative services designers, and developers in meeting the digital needs of the
organization; overseeing cross-departmental digital engagement efforts— including NHMLAC
Connects and online publication Naturalist—in alignment with NHMLAC’s strategic framework;
establishing governance and best practices around website maintenance, content development
and entry (including SEO), and quality assurance; providing ongoing website support and
consultation to all departments; overseeing the work of the Digital team, including Lead Web
Developer and Junior Web Developer.
We are looking for a professional with at least six years experience in digital production/digital
project management (preferably in the museum or educational arena) who thrives in a
collaborative, entrepreneurial, and inclusive culture while executing with a sense of urgency.
