The National Air and Space Museum is seeking an independent contractor to facilitate the standardization and enhancement of rights and restrictions information for existing and newly digitized assets. The contractor will research, record, update or enhance rights and restrictions information for digital assets, identify unrestricted digital content, and ensure that permissions/usage information can be clearly conveyed to audiences who want to make use of Air and Space’s digital assets.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
- Knowledge of rights and reproduction policies, best practices, and legal precedents for works in cultural heritage organizations, including fair use, public domain, publicity or privacy rights, and other restrictions;
- Knowledge of open access standards for the cultural heritage sector (Creative Commons, RightsStatements.org);
- Knowledge of current digital asset management practices and standards.
