Job Title: Lead Preparator, Collections Access
Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours/week
Pay Rate: $36.78 (position)
This is a union position subject to the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Under supervision of the Head Preparator, the Lead Preparator, Collections Access is responsible for supporting the Collections Manager’s oversight of the museum storage facilities, the movement, packing/unpacking, documentation, and care of works of art specific to SFMOMA collections or works on loan. This position collaborates extensively throughout the Collections, Exhibitions, and Design Divisions and other museum departments on logistics related to care, handling and storage of artworks in the execution of SFMOMA’s programs at both of the Museum’s locations at 151 Third Street and South San Francisco.  This position will be based at the South San Francisco location.
This role is referred to as ‘Lead’ in that the individual directs other preparators.  As directed by the Head Preparator, the Lead Preparator may act as an interdepartmental liaison for the implementation of a given project and area.
The Lead Preparator’s responsibilities also include representing SFMOMA to other institutions as well as setting professional examples and further developing the professional standards of art handling at SFMOMA.
