Job Title: Museum Preparator II
Schedule: Full-Time, 35 hours/week
Pay Rate: $26.84 (starting rate), $32.09 (position rate)
This is a union position subject to the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
Under the supervision of the Assistant Head Preparator, the Museum Preparator II is responsible for the preparation and handling of art objects in the permanent collection and exhibitions. This generalist position collaborates extensively throughout the Collections, Exhibitions, and Design Divisions and other museum departments on logistics related to care, access, handling, and storage of artworks at both of the Museum’s locations at 151 Third Street and South San Francisco in the execution of SFMOMA’s programs.
As directed by the Assistant Head Preparator and preparator leadership, a Museum Preparator II will be assigned to work in partnership with a Lead Preparator on Special Exhibitions and other large-scale projects. The Prep II may act as an interdepartmental liaison for the implementation of a given project and area when a Lead Preparator is unavailable.
The Prep II’s responsibilities also include further developing the professional standards of art handling at SFMOMA.
