The Royal Alberta Museum (RAM) is the largest museum in western Canada and one of the top museums in Canada. Located in the Arts District in downtown Edmonton, we collect, preserve, research, interpret, and exhibit objects and specimens related to the heritage of Alberta’s people and natural environment.
Role
The Royal Alberta Museum is seeking a dynamic and well-qualified candidate for the role of Steward, Indigenous Collections. RAM cares for approximately 18,000 objects of Indigenous origin. These objects date from the mid-1800s to the present. As the collection grows, we work with Indigenous people to ensure that contemporary as well as historic experiences are represented in the collections and in our displays. The collection holds great meaning for originating communities. We work with cultural knowledge holders to make sure that the collection is cared for in a culturally sensitive and respectful way.
Reporting to the Head, Indigenous Engagement, you will maintain and enhance all components of RAM’s Indigenous collections and support overall program research. Primary focus includes collections management, research, and collaborative work with Indigenous communities.
