The J. Paul Getty Museum seeks a Media Producer responsible for delivering compelling audio, video, and interactive media in support of our ambitious display, education, and exhibition programs. This is an 18-month limited term position reporting to the Executive Producer, Digital Media within the division of Education, Public Programs, and Interpretive Media. The Media Producer will play a key role in the development, planning, and hands-on creation of interpretive media about the Getty’s collection and activities.

Major Job Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of up-to-date media production techniques to the planning and execution of audio, video, and interactive media projects.
  • Efficiently deliver high-quality, creative media presentations that excite and engage our audiences.
  • Work with our team of writers, producers, educators, and scholars to develop audience-appropriate content with focused storylines that look at art in refreshing and surprising new ways.
  • Invigorate art history for contemporary audiences.
  • Consistently execute established team strategy and priorities.
  • Plan and schedule multiple overlapping projects and deliver them on time and on budget.
  • Diplomatically gather and respond to stakeholder feedback.


  • Bachelor’s degree preferably related to digital media production
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi medium projects in a production environment using numerous distribution channels such as social media, web, blogs, wikis, etc.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Prefer bachelor’s degree in audio, video, or digital media production, or a related degree along with documented equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant production experience demonstrating hands-on use of audio and video equipment required.
  • Some experience in educational or documentary media is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of audio production and post-production techniques, software, and standards. Some experience conducting and recording audio interviews preferred.
  • Skill in visualizing and shooting concepts creatively and effectively
  • Expertise in the use of the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, including Adobe Premiere and After Effects.
  • Ability to deliver clear, effective creative notes to vendors and colleagues, and to receive and incorporate them from stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to bring energy, enthusiasm, initiative, and creativity to the team every day.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to set priorities, and juggle competing demands.
  • The position requires tact, diplomacy, teamwork, and the ability to collaborate with a wide range of project participants in a positive environment.
