THNOC – Developer/Programmer opening


The developer/programmer is responsible for writing code and providing programming support and expertise in developing all digital technology initiatives for the institution. This position works closely with the interface/interactive designer and exhibition curators to plan, develop and build new and exciting exhibition interactives that will enhance our offerings and the museum experience for visitors. The developer/programmer is also responsible for the development of integrated digital exhibits and functionality and features for THNOC’s website and workflow enhancements.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of three years of programming and testing experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate must also have experience with major programming languages, including Java, XML, PHP, Python and SQL and relational databases such as MySQL, be proficient in CSS, XSLT, JavaScript, HTML5, and Microsoft Office, and have the ability to learn and use museum specific software/databases. Additionally, the developer/programmer must possess exceptional customer service, communication, organizational and problem solving skills, flexibility to an evolving work environment, the capability to meet concurrent deadlines, and an ability to work under minimal supervision. Preferred qualifications include knowledge of museums, library and information sciences, experience working in Drupal, and knowledge of current web technologies and responsive design.
