As Shedd Aquarium’s new Vice President/Technology, you will be expected to keep up to date on emerging technologies, partner with other leaders in the Aquarium to integrate technology into strategic and operating plans, and ensure the integrity of Shedd’s mission-critical systems.

Direct the operations of the Technology Group, including the management and development of direct reports.
Develop and execute a technology business plan that supports the overarching goals of the institution.
Identify and investigate existing as well as emerging technologies to evaluate and maintain institutional technology tools.
Develop and maintain relationships with leaders across the institution to promote a collaborative approach to utilizing technology to help achieve institutional goals.
Provide technical expertise in developing and maintaining digital and social media strategies in conjunction with other groups within the institution.
Ensure the development, implementation and testing of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Develop and manage technology policies and procedures.
Champion the development and implementation of technology training and education programs.
Develop and manage vendor relationships to ensure cost effective purchasing decisions and to recognize sponsorship opportunities with existing or potential vendors.

REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in business or technology.
Ten years of technology experience with five years of management responsibilities.
Ability to work collaboratively with others over whom you have no direct authority.
Architect-level knowledge of infrastructure as it relates to networking, both wired and wireless, virtualized environments.
Demonstrated experience implementing and maintaining Microsoftsolutions in an enterprise environment.
Experience in a mixed Apple/Intel desktop environment.
Experience managing an IAAS, Cloud-based infrastructure provided by a third party in conjunction with an in-house help desk.
General knowledge of application development languages and tools, including .NET, SQL and HTML.
A successful track record of leading and delivering enterprise projects on time and budget
Familiar with audio-visual equipment architecture and products as well as with the maintenance and support of this equipment.
DESIRED
Master’s degree in business or technology
Experience in building a knowledge-based platform to help inform and drive business strategy.
Experience with customer relationship management systems, financial management, animal health and accounting systems.
Experience in managing external providers and vendors.
Experience with Web and Social Media as both an Ecommerce and message delivery vehicle.
Experience leading in a non-profit decision making culture.
Demonstrable experience ensuring alignment between technology and business strategies through a technology governance approach.
