The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region.
We are seeking a web developer with exceptional technical skills to write code and provide full-stack programming support for the development and maintenance of THNOC’s website to help us engage audiences and fulfill our educational mission. Based in Digital Services, a division of thriving digital initiatives, this position is responsible for the development and integration of online exhibits, the collections catalog, and other website engagement initiatives. This position provides advice, programing support and expertise in developing digital initiatives and THNOC workflow enhancements. In collaboration with others, the web developer assists in evaluating THNOC’s website and online engagement initiatives.
The ideal candidate must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent combination of education and experience and a minimum of 3 years of programming and testing experience. The successful candidate must have experience working in Drupal, MySQL and relational databases, in major programming, including Java, XML, Python, PHP, and SQL, and with using API and JSON. Additionally, the successful candidate must demonstrate a proficiency in CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery coding as well as HTML/HTML5. This position also requires a proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use museum specific software/databases. The web developer must have proven analytical and problem-solving skills and have the ability to use best practices to ensure exceptional design and development product delivery, source and administer contractors, and stay within established timelines and budgets. The web developer must demonstrate effective communication skills, an ability to collaborate with others, and flexibility in an evolving work. Preferred qualifications include experience working with Axiell collections management system or other collections management systems, Piction digital asset management system or other digital asset management systems, Tessitura constituent relations management system or other constituent relations management systems and a familiarity with the implementation of tracking pixels, such as Google Analytics and Tag Manager, and experience working with a museum, library or in the informational sciences is preferred.
This is a full-time position working Mondays-Fridays.
