WEB DEVELOPER/DIGITAL STRATEGIST

The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts seeks a talented Web professional to develop and administer the Museum’s dynamic web and mobile services. Reporting to the Deputy Director for Resources and Visitor Experience, this position will help the Museum maximize the full potential of its digital assets to provide a better customer/visitor experience; improve access to information about the collections; and enhance revenue generating programs and services. He/she will oversee, develop and maintain appealing web content; formulate and implement creative digital strategies and tactics; develop supplementary web content and graphics that improve website usability and presentation; develop and implement new web-based applications; provide consultative, technical and training support to users; collect and analyze web analytics; and ensure web pages comply with accessibility standards, VMFA brand identity and editorial guidelines and appropriate policies.

QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge of WordPress and several computer languages, including PHP, MySQL and SQL; web publishing computer languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript; and web publishing software such as Photoshop. Additionally, he/she will have significant experience in web page and web application development and excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills to effectively identify and define user needs and assist technical and non-technical users. Experience working both independently and in a collaborative inter-department, fast-paced work environment is required. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems or related field preferred or equivalent experience. The ideal candidate will also have a background in marketing and communications to understand and effectively develop digital strategies based on audience and marketing development needs. The selected candidate must pass a security background check.
