April Thompson


April Thompson currently works as Assistant Curator at the Walter Phillips Gallery, Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity. Her practice is grounded by interest in post-modern geography, the politics of space and the medium of oral history & new media. She has worked closely with independent non-profit cultural organizations in British Columbia, including SAD Magazine,Access Gallery, The Contemporary Art Gallery and the Jewish Museum and Archivesrnof B.C. Her writing has been featured in SAD Magazine, Canadian Art Online,rnPortrait: The Magazine for the National Portrait Gallery, Australia. Her curatorial endeavors have been shown at Dynamo Arts Association (CAN), Access Gallery (CAN), Moat Gallery (Vancouver Public Library, CAN), Western Washington University (USA), The National PortraitrnGallery (AUS). Her MA in Critical Curatorial Studies at the University of British Columbia (2016) culminated in a curated group exhibition around local branding, photography & abstraction.
