Lucy Bell, Sdaahl K'awaas is the Head of the First Nations and Repatriation Department at the Royal BC Museum in Victoria, BC. She comes from the Haida Nation and has a wealth of experience. Lucy was one of the founders of the Haida Repatriation Committee, bringing home over 500 Haida ancestral remains from global museums. Lucy has also co-curated exhibits at the NMAI, the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Haida Gwaii Museum and is now working to refresh the First Peoples Gallery at the RBCM. Lucy also has experience creating exhibits for the Web, including the award-winning Haida Spirits of the Sea and Our World-Our Way of Life virtual exhibits for the VMC. Lucy has a cross-cultural education and prides herself on bridging the gap between her Haida learning and her university learning. She has a degree in Anthropology, an M.A in Indigenous Language Revitalization and a Cultural Resource Management Diploma. She is a recipient of the BC Community Achievement award, is a Distinguished Alumni from UVIC and is a BCMA Change-Maker.
