Director of Collections Management
The Cleveland Museum of Art
Mary Suzor is the Cleveland Museum of Art's Director of Collections Management and has been with the Museum since 1996. Mary is responsible for national and international shipping arrangements, as well as fine arts insurance for the museum. She also oversees the CMA's Photographic and Digital Imaging Department and has been working on the 100% digital capture of the CMA's collection of over 45,000 artworks since 2005.
Mary provided vision and leadership for projects to digitize the Museum’s collection, and in the specification and implementation of a custom database which converted an 80 year old card catalog into a dynamic database and inventory tracking tool. These projects facilitated CMA digital publishing initiatives, including Collections Online, and the award-winning Gallery One Collection Wall and ArtLens.
Prior to coming to Cleveland, Mary was the Registrar at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, with oversight of the NGA’s collections management policies and procedures and served as a member of the U.S. Indemnity Panel for four years.
