Patricia Rodewald

Patricia Cain Rodewald served as the Director of Education at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta from 2001 to 2012, when she relocated to Beijing, China. She works with colleagues from Chinese and American institutions to organize conferences and other opportunities for professional exchange and dialogue between American and Chinese museums. She is currently a museum educator-in-residence at the National Museum of China in Beijing.

A U.S. museum professional for twenty-five years, Pat’s contributions at the High included a new education center, family learning gallery, and reinstallation of the permanent collection as part of the Museum’s 2005 expansion; leading the education team in exhibition programs and interpretation for multi-year partnerships with the Louvre Museum and MoMA; and collaborating with colleagues to establish cross-functional exhibition and program teams. Her exploration of using technology to engage audiences began in 1998 with Odyssey Online, a web site partnering the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester and the Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University. The site was recognized with a Best of the Web award. More recently ArtClix, the High’s first mobile app, received a Gold Muse Award from AAM and Best of the Web from MW. She holds an M.A. in art history from Princeton University.
