Veronica Betancourt

Verónica Betancourt is the Director of Interpretation at the Baltimore Museum of Art where she is responsible for setting the vision and strategy for all exhibition and collection interpretation at the museum, whether it takes the form of a gallery interactive or a facilitated tour. Prior to the BMA, Betancourt was the Manager of Gallery Learning at the Walters Art Museum. rnrnHer scholarship has focused on culturally responsive visitor studies, particularly within encyclopedic art museums, and she is currently working on a book project drawn from her dissertation, “Visiting while Latinx: An Intersectional Analysis of the Experiences of Subjectivity among Latinx Visitors to Encyclopedic Art Museums,” which was awarded the 2020 Elliot Eisner Doctoral Research Award by the National Art Education Association. She has taught at the Wexner Center for the Arts and in Art Education at The Ohio State University, both in Columbus, Ohio. She earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in Art Education, from The Ohio State University, and a B.A. in Art History, from Swarthmore College.
