As the Civic Art Collections Manager for the Los Angeles County Arts Commission Clare Haggarty is charged with keeping inventory and ensuring the preservation of a growing list of civic artworks situated throughout the 4,083 square miles of Los Angeles County. Clare enjoys working with public art because of the element of surprise and inspiration that comes with finding art out in the world in unexpected places. In particular Clare likes to research and share the stories that inhabit the artworks regarding their history and relation to place. Clare holds an MA in History of Art from the University of Glasgow in Scotland and an MA in Curatorial Practice from California College of the Arts in San Francisco.
