Dr. Dinesh Katre is presently Associate Director & HOD of Human-Centred Design and Computing (HCDC) Group at C-DAC Pune. Presently, he spearheads the Centre of Excellence for Digital Preservation, which is a flagship project under the Indian National Digital Preservation Programme. He is responsible for the development of various digital preservation tools and technologies in this project. JATAN: Virtual Museum Builder, a software product developed under his leadership, has been standardized for national museums under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Presently, JATAN is being used by 10 museums across India. He has lead the project that delivered the National Repository and Portal for Museums of India which provides online access to the collections from 10 national museums. UNESCO had invited him as an expert for the International Expert Meeting to define the Memory of the World Programme at Warsaw, Poland in June 2014. He holds Ph.D. in Human-Computer Interaction (2006) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India and Master of Design (1992) from Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai.
