Ben Hamley

Ben is the Manager – Audience Research, Strategy & Advocacy for the Queensland Museum Network. He has worked at the forefront of the Creative & Entertainment Industries in Brisbane for a number of years, having held positions as Project Manager for the development and introduction of the triple-faculty Entertainment Industries degree at the Queensland University of Technology and - more recently - Strategic Advisor to Josephmark, working on the redesign of the international social-music juggernaut, MySpace.rnrnHe is currently a non-executive director of the Brisbane Writers Festival and was selected as one of the Foundation for Young Australians 'Young Social Pioneers' in 2011 for his work with ‘Smart Artz’ (now ‘Artology’), a social enterprise founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist, Graeme Wood.rnrnrnOutside of work, Ben is a bit of a geek, having a hobby interest in neuroscience and bioinformatics. He recently developed an interactive new media work called “The Zone” that measured visitors brain activity and assisted them to either focus or relax… or ‘get in the zone’. “The Zone” was installed at ‘The Edge’ (Digital Culture Centre of the State Library of Queensland) for 3 months during 2012. He is a passionate advocate for interdisciplinary skill development and the intersections between culture, the arts, science and business.
