Joowon Lee was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea in 1977. Lee studied Visual Communication for her Master of Fine Arts degree program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) where she received SAIC Trustees Full Scholarship. By combining her Visual Communication design skills with exhibition environments, Lee is currently serving as the Director of Donggang Digital Society, an offline digital museum that exhibits with beam projections only where entire artifacts of the shows get to be shown through multimedia installation design. Lee has been active in serving for international programs related to multimedia installation areas such as ITU (International Telecommunication Union by the United Nation) Plenipotentiary Conference event site multimedia design Advisory Member, Yeongwol International Museum Forum Committee Member, especially as its 2013 program’s Museum in the Digital Era session organizer, Seoul Arts Center Hangaram Design Museum – Dialogue in the Dark competition digital art Jury, and The American Alliance of Museums Annual Meeting and Museum Expo – Media and Technology MUSE Award – Multimedia Installations section Jury Chair of 2014 and 2015.
