I am a PhD candidate at the University of Canberra in the Digital Treasures research program. My focus is on place values as expressed through digital culture and the huge potential for connecting digitised collections back to users.I have worked in the cultural heritage sector for many years, researching and developing management plans for places of cultural and heritage significance. My focus for many years has been interpretation which has lead me to tackle all the thorny questions related to honing effective messages and creating engagement. This is the first year of my PhD and I am excited to share the things I have discovered about what is happening in the digital sphere related to place values and location based technology, and how this might inform museum engagement.
